Crazy rain made it the perfect night for soup. I think it also made it the perfect night to not leave your house. Thanks to everyone who grabbed their slickers and braved the downpour. No doubt the soups warmed you up.
We had a great line up. Taco Soup that was only 2 points. Some of you know exactly what I mean. A Cassoulet described by the cook as a soup with meat, meat, a little more meat and some beans. It was a favorite and you can see his close to empty pot below. Vegetarian soups flanked him on both sides, Creamy Tomato with goldfish crackers – the kids favorite of course, and a Curried Butternut Squash. The table was rounded out by a Lentil Nutri-Bomb soup. If the rain made you feel like you might
get a cold, this soup fought it off.
New faces came which is always fun to see. Repeat participants confirm it really is a fun night with great soup and
a better cause. We have crossed the $1000 mark for total donations which equals 3000 meals thanks to the buying power of the Mid-Ohio Foodbank. You know, 51% of their donations come from private donors like us. It’s true that every bit helps.
Next month is going to be on January 8th, the second Tuesday of the month. Because who would come out on January 1. We are trying to get a band too so mark your calendar. It will be the perfect event for those whose New Year’s Resolutions are ‘Have more fun’ or ‘Be more charitable.’ You’ll be off to a strong start.

You say next month? Where do I find details? is it a cookoff to help raise money for the food bank?

It’s the first Tuesday of the month from 6-8 at Woodlands Tavern in Grandview… except next month is actually on January 8th … the second Tuesday. Not a cook off. Just people sharing soup. And there is a donation crock pot so people can throw in a few bucks should they choose to which goes to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank. Check out the Soup and Bread page on this site for a look into the event. We hope you can join us soon as a guest … or making soup.
